Home Energy Systems was founded in 2001 by the current owner and operator, Dr. Martin Learn. Martin began Home Energy Systems after many years of study and practice in solar energy. He brings more than 25 years of experience and solar knowledge. Under Martin’s expertise, we have installed systems ranging from small residential to large scale commercial all for a total of more than 3,500,000 watts of power! We have been one of the top San Diego solar companies for more than a decade which also makes us one of the oldest. We have seen many companies rise and fall, some of them friends and colleagues; but we have been able to persevere and are happy to say we have outlived many of our warranties. Not only does this give our clients peace of mind, but proves our company is here to stay.
What We Do
Home Energy Systems sells, designs, installs, and maintains residential solar, commercial solar, mobile solar and uninterruptable power supplies (UPS – battery backup) in San Diego County. We have long standing excellent relationships with manufacturers of solar panels, inverters, batteries, and racking systems which enables us to get you the best pricing and delivery of your materials as fast as possible. When working with Home Energy Systems you know your system will be up and running and your meter will be spinning backwards in a timely manner. We also have been working with local supply houses in the San Diego region and are able to get “the weird part” that other guys don’t know about or can’t find. No one knows the business better than Home Energy Systems.

The level of quality and excellence you can expect when working with HES is unparalleled in the San Diego Region. Every installer, manager, and consultant goes through extensive training programs led by ISPQ-accredited technical training staff. Unlike our competition based out of northern California and elsewhere; we do not sub out any of our work. Everything is done in house by Home Energy Systems employees. We will not be using your project to learn; our installers have been highly trained and know every step of the process. We have been doing business in San Diego for more than 10 years and have worked in virtually every jurisdiction. We are familiar with all the local codes so you can rest assured there will be no delays.

We always get the question, what is the warranty on your system or how do I know this will work 10 years down the road? We understand, you are committing to a 25 year product and it is a big decision. That is why we have spent so much time and effort “weeding out the bad guys.” When you buy a solar system from us you know you are getting the best. Every one of the solar modules we sell comes with a 25 year production warranty and a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty. Additionally, the balance of system comes with a 10 year warranty. The good news is you can rest easy knowing your investment is 100% protected. The really good news is our products come with these warranties because they rarely have issues. The quality of our installation is second to none which is why we have been around long enough to honor each and every warranty we have ever awarded, some of which have already expired.

Home Energy Systems is proud to employ NABCEP certified people. NABCEP stands for North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners and its certification is the highest certification you can achieve in the solar industry. We are a licensed C-46 contractor under the California State license number 800657. Compare that to some of our competition, the number of the licenses are issued in chronological order so if their license number is greater than ours you know we have been around longer. We are proud to be a member of the San Diego Chapter of the Better Business Bureau. We currently have the highest rating possible from the BBB at A+. We are also proud members of the American Solar Energy Society, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, California Solar Energy Industries Association and The Green Chamber of Commerce. We have installed virtually every type of solar system ranging from ground mounted to rooftop mounted to carport mounted to trellis mounted to solar trackers. There is nothing in this industry we do not have experience with.
What We Will Do For You
