Meet the Staff

Martin P Learn, BS, MD, MBA, NABCEP

Martin Learn - President

President

Martin served as Director of Alternate Energy Institute between 1982 and 1996 researching and promoting renewable energy technologies.  He attended and presented papers at several conferences including the American Solar Energy Association, International Solar Energy Association, Solar Energy Research Institute symposium on Daylighting, and the Third International Energy Symposium.

Numerous research visits to National Laboratories such as NREL, Sandia, and Los Alamos resulted in placing second in the 1986 Energy Technology Advancement Program competition of the CEC among 35 large businesses, utilities, and universities with a design to introduce concentrated sunlight into commercial buildings for illumination.  Martin has also attended more than 50 renewable energy conferences both nationally and internationally.

He has been involved in photovoltaics (PV) and wind power systems since 1982, and facilitated the establishment of the largest and oldest continuously operating local PV retail company at the time, Solar Electric Inc.  After passively investing for several years he became part owner in 1996, and left to pursue full-time installations under his own license in early 2001 creating Home Energy Systems, Inc.
