San Diego Solar Will Make Your Roof Ready For Summer

Solar install in Escondido, California of rooftop solar panels

The question is not if your roof is ready to withstand the heat of summer, the question is whether your roof will produce power to cool your home. San Diego solar systems don’t just fight off the heat, they turn that sunshine into electricity (then you turn that electricity into cool air conditioned airflow!). Think about that – the sun’s energy that would heat your house is absorbed by solar panels, rather than your roof, and converted into electricity.

SHOULD I GET SOLAR?

The question for San Diego homeowners is not: “Should I get solar?” The question is, “Should I get solar this year?” The early months of 2022 mark a narrowing window of opportunity to get solar on terms you likely will never see again. NEM 2.0 is still available if you act fast. This solar tariff program allows you to lock into today’s solar sell-back rates. The NEM 3.0 battle is being contested, but all sides see the reality. That is, homeowners considering solar will be better off with the current NEM 2.0 rates than they will be with the coming NEM 3.0 rates. (It is nearly certain the NEM 3.0 rates will be less beneficial to solar system owners compared to the NEM 2.0 rates)

Also, the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) remains strong at 26%. This tax rebate level is for systems energized before the end of 2022. The ITC was at one point as high as 30%. It is presently 26%  and is scheduled to drop to 22% in 2023. This is the second of two consecutive years with a 26% tax credit to apply to your tax liabilities. To be clear, this is a tax credit, not a tax write off. Therefore, this allows 26% of your system’s cost to be used to pay your taxes.

These two incentives will soon be gone. Act now if you you’ve been considering solar.

WHO’S THE BEST SOLAR INSTALLER IN SAN DIEGO?

If you’ve decided to go solar, you next need to select the best San Diego solar company. Pick HES Solar to design and install your solar panels.

HES Solar has been growing since it was founded in 2001. Over those 21 years HES Solar has assembled the best design and installation crews for your solar system. We have expert knowledge that we gained over the decades as a family-owned San Diego business. We will smooth the sometimes-tricky navigation through steps such as HOA approval processes.

In 2021 SunPower invited HES Solar’s residential division to become a SunPower Master Dealer. HES Solar accepted this highest partnership level. The company now operates as one of the select top Sun Power dealers in the United States. SunPower offers these Master Dealer partnership offers only after verifying continually excellent work and customer service.

CAN I GET SOLAR LATER?

We are in the perfect storm of NEM 3.0 coming soon and the 26% ITC ending soon. Therefore there will likely be a rush to get solar in the second half of 2022. But building a solar system is a project that will benefit you and your family for decades. Therefore it’s important to get the right solar system for you, built right, and backed by a strong local company. You want a company that will be there for you down the line if you have any questions. Also, a San Diego solar installer ready for you if you move and want the benefits of solar at your next house, too. (yes, that next house likely will not have solar terms as good as what you can still lock in today).

As the rush to get solar increases, the top solar companies in San Diego like HES Solar will get booked up. So as the big time crunch approaches, you’ll lose options on picking the best quality solar installer for you. You may get your system designed, installed, and approved before NEM 3.0 goes into effect and before the 26% tax credit ends, but then you’ll be facing the next 20+ years with a home solar system that is of lesser quality than what you could have created with a top, 5-star solar installer like HES Solar

The Best San Diego Solar for you

Additionally, if the restrictions on solar slow down the adoption of solar, some of the smaller and weaker solar installers in San Diego may go out of business. Others might shift their business focus to other ventures. Some of today’s solar installers design and install solar systems as a side division of their business. But at HES Solar, we only do solar, solar + storage, storage, and EV chargers. We’re your answer to all of your home’s energy production and management needs. (We are a SunPower Master Dealer and certified to install the SunPower SunVault. Additionally, we’re a certified Tesla Energy installer for your Powerwall installation with or without a new solar system).
