Canvassing Manager

As a Solar Canvassing Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing a team of canvassers in promoting and selling solar energy solutions to residential and commercial customers. This role requires a blend of leadership, sales acumen, and strategic thinking to drive results in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for renewable energy, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in sales or canvassing management.

To be successful in this position you will need to have a strong sense of ownership and accountability. You should be self-driven, organized, able to manage multiple priorities at once, have a solid understanding of residential lead generation, and be able to communicate effectively with our customers and our teams. You should be an expert in residential canvassing  so that you can lead your team to success while upholding HES Solar’s core values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of canvassers to effectively promote solar energy solutions.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and support to ensure team members meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Foster a positive and motivating work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.

 

Sales Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market share.
  • Analyze market trends, customer demographics, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and challenges.
  • Monitor performance metrics and KPIs, and take proactive measures to address any areas of improvement.

 

Customer Engagement and Relationship Building:

  • Lead by example in engaging with potential customers to generate leads and drive sales conversions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing inquiries, concerns, and objections in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, marketing, and customer service, to ensure seamless customer experiences.

 

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality checks to ensure adherence to sales processes and best practices.
  • Provide training and resources to ensure team members are knowledgeable about products, services, and compliance standards.

 

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate accurate and timely reports on sales performance, lead generation activities, and other relevant metrics.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, and present findings to senior management.
  • Utilize insights to refine sales strategies, optimize resource allocation, and drive continuous improvement.

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in sales, canvassing, or direct marketing, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in a competitive environment.
  • Knowledge of solar energy systems, renewable energy policies, and industry trends (preferred).
  • Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other sales productivity tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.

Robert’s experience as a newspaper editor as well as his involvement with the sustainability-focused Rocky Mountain Institute drives him to constantly seek out innovative ways to meet energy needs through renewable resources as well as helps him share those ideas with Southern California homeowners. When not at work or volunteering time with his church or community, Robert spends time with his wife and two sons or pursues his passion of fly fishing.
