Toyota of Anaheim: The Car Dealership with a Sunroof

Commercial Case Study

Toyota of Anaheim
Anaheim, CA

Challenge

Toyota of Anaheim was looking for ways to cut the high cost of overhead of their major Southern California auto dealership. Rooftop solar provided a way to use the available showroom rooftop area to save money and also operate with more renewable energy.

Solution

HES Solar built a 1040-panel rooftop solar system designed to offset 40% of Toyota of Anaheim’s energy use. The build used top-quality panels to ensure long term maximum production and reliability. The 343.2 kilowatt system produces an estimated 513,458 kWh of electricity from the abundant California sunshine every year.

Customer Benefit

With an estimated $70,000 annual savings (based on the utilities electric rates at the time of the installation in 2019), the solar system will deliver self-generated electricity to keep energy costs low even as utility rates climb. The system’s payback period is a short 4.7 years and in 25 years the expected savings on energy bills totals $2,565,000.
